Find the sticking point
We look at a recent question and how your child worked through it.
If your child gets stuck with GCSE maths, I’ll start with the part they find difficult. We’ll work through it together, then give them a chance to try a question on their own.

We’ll start there. Looking at how your child approaches a question helps me understand what to explain and what needs practice.
We look at a recent question and how your child worked through it.
I explain the idea, we tackle an example together, then your child tries a similar question independently.
A short recap and a few focused questions help your child revisit what we covered.
I’ll ask your child to explain each step. Here’s a simple example of what that looks like.
Subtract 7 from both sides: 3x = 15. Then divide both sides by 3: x = 5. Check it in the original equation: 3 × 5 + 7 = 22. Next, try 4x + 3 = 19 and explain each step aloud.
First, we’ll talk about your child’s year group, what they find difficult and what they want help with. If I can help, we’ll agree a topic for the first lesson.

I’m Natanael. I have a physics MSc from Surrey and spent 13 months on a technical project at CERN. In my work building products and solving technical problems, I break difficult problems into smaller steps that I can test.

No. Grades depend on many factors, including practice and exam performance. We can agree what to work on and review understanding through questions and explanations.
It’s a 20-minute conversation with a parent or guardian about what your child needs and whether I can help. It isn’t a tutoring lesson.
A parent or guardian should make the booking and agree arrangements for any learner under 18. Please do not share school records or sensitive information in the booking email.
Ask me about GCSE maths support. We’ll discuss where your child is getting stuck and whether I’m the right person to help.
